Vesna Dimitrieska is Director of Global Education Initiatives for Indiana University’s School of Global and International Studies and School of Education. She has established multiple partnerships between units from Indiana University’s School of Education, School of Global and International Studies, and the College of Arts and Sciences to offer Global Competence Workshops for pre-service teachers, Faculty Internationalization Workshops, Balfour Pre-College Academy GALACTIC, all at IU’s School of Education and Principals Academy for internationalizing schools across Indiana. Other professional development opportunities include workshops for middle and high school social studies in-service teachers; elementary language arts teachers (Global Literacy Invitations) and dual language immersion teachers from pilot programs across Indiana. All these initiatives aim to integrate global aspects in K-16 education across Indiana. Her research agenda includes topics related to teaching for global readiness, instructional practices in dual language immersion programs in Indiana, language teacher identity development, and instructional practices related to less-commonly taught languages.
