Full Biography

Hitesh Kathuria is currently Assistant Vice President for University Academic Affairs at Indiana University, Director of the Office of Collaborative Academic Programs, University Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the School of Natural Science and Mathematics, Indiana University East. In his current role, he creates online degrees across all IU campuses. He has taught Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry courses, and has internationalized those at the 300 and 400 levels. In his research lab, undergraduate students gain experience in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. His lab currently works in the area of uncovering cellular mechanisms affected by environmental toxins using Drosophila as the model system. In 2015, he was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Service Award by Indiana University East for his exemplary contributions to the campus and the community. For the last five years, he has been actively working with Richmond Community Schools to increase student interest in STEM courses, promote diversity, and internationalize curriculum.
