Svitlana Ramer

President of the Ukrainian Society of Indiana

Dr. Svitlana Ramer is a Ukrainian-American leader, educator, and advocate whose career spans community engagement, international relations, development, and public diplomacy. She currently serves as Content and Editorial Manager at Razom, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Ukraine through philanthropy and civic engagement.

With extensive experience across sectors, Dr. Ramer has held leadership roles at The International Center in Indianapolis, DAI Global, and Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, where her work focused on international development, stakeholder communications, and public outreach. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies from Penn State University, and she continues to contribute to higher education as an adjunct professor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

A Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation Fellow and former Honorary Consul of Ukraine for Indiana, Dr. Ramer is also the Co-Founder and President of the Ukrainian Society of Indiana. Under her leadership, the Society has launched impactful initiatives including Indiana’s first Ukrainian Festival, bilingual story programs, Holodomor Remembrance Day recognition, and expanded ESL support for refugees. She facilitated Indiana’s first sister-city partnerships with Ukrainian municipalities and secured a grant from the Indiana Language Roadmap to foster connections between recent Ukrainian arrivals and established Ukrainian heritage Hoosiers through community book clubs at the Indianapolis Public Library. Her contributions to cultural diplomacy and refugee support earned her recognition as a finalist for The International Center’s Global Impression Award.
